YOU CAN BE BIGGER THAN YOU ARE
As a small boy, before the time of drainage ditches, I lived in the nation surrounded by swamp lands. Those have been days of chills and fever and malaria. Once I got here to town to high school, I used to be sallow-cheeked and hole-chested. One in all my teachers, George Warren Krall, was what we then referred to as a health crank. We laughed at his ideas. They went in one ear and got here out the other. But George Warren Krall by no means let up. At some point he seemed to single me out personally. With flashing eye and in tones that I will never forget, he appeared straight at me and stated, ”I dare you to be the healthiest boy in the class.” That introduced me up with a jar. We now offer top quality blinds, shades and Mississauga drapery. Around me have been boys all stronger and more robust than I.
To be the healthiest boy in the class once I was thin and sallow and imagined at the very least that I used to be filled with swamp poisons!—the man was crazy. But I used to be introduced as much as take dares. His voice went on. He pointed directly at me. ”I dare you to chase those chills and fevers out of your system. I dare you to fill your body with fresh air, pure water, entiresome food, and day by day exercise till your cheeks are rosy, your chest full, and your limbs sturdy.” As he talked one thing seemed to happen inside me. My blood was up. It answered the dare and surged all by way of my body into tingling finger ideas as if itching for battle. I chased the poisons out of my system. I built a body that has equaled the strongest boys in that class, and has outlived and outlasted most of them. Since that day I have never lost any time on account of sickness. You can imagine how typically I’ve blessed that teacher who dared a sallow-cheeked boy to be the healthiest in the class.
Several years later, Henry Woods, considered one of our promising boys, pushed by way of the door of my office early one morning and stood facing me defiantly. “I’m quitting,” he said. “What is the trouble, Henry?” “Simply this, I’m no salesman. I have never received the nerve. I have never received the ability, and I’m not worth the cash you might be paying me.”There was one thing splendid concerning the courage of a man who would so frankly admit failure to his boss. Toronto drapery are available in a lot of materials together with: silk curtains, wool curtains, linen drapery, cotton curtains, thermal curtains, sheer drapes, light filtering drapery, and blackout curtains. He could not do this without nerve. Suddenly my mind recalled the boyhood scene when a teacher dared a hole-chested youngster to be strong. To Henry’s shock, as a substitute of accepting his resignation, I appeared him squarely in the eye and stated: “If I know how to choose men, you’ve gotten sales stuff in you. I dare you, Henry Woods, to get out of this office, proper now, and come again tonight with more orders than you’ve gotten ever sold in any someday in your entire life.” He checked out me dumfounded. Then a flash got here into his eyes.
