The classic Volkswagen inspires different feelings for different people. When asked about what attracts us to these simple vehicles, we sometimes quote the same philosophy as the Harley-Davidson enthusiast; "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand."
This website celebrates the inclusion of our favorite cars in all types of media; whether by design, as in Disney's 'Herbie' series of movies; or by accident, like the quick glimpse of a Transporter behind Sgt. Joe Friday (Dan Aykroyd) as he climbs the Parker Center steps during the title sequence of Dragnet (1987).
Even though VW stopped importing air-cooled vehicles to the United States almost 30 years ago, they still show up in contemporary works. One of the most recent is a yellow sedan on the car lot next to Bumblebee in Michael Bay's live-action remake of Transformers (2007). You may recall that Bumblebee in the original 1984-1988 animated series was a VW.
I hope that as you explore VWFV, you find at least one thing that makes you smile; or if you're not a VeeDub enthusiast, that you find one thing that gives you some insight into what makes the classic Volkswagen so special.
